Travel Documents

✅ Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.
✅ Your travel documents will be emailed to you. Print or save digital copies of your flight and hotel confirmations. The documents contain important information including how and where to meet your transfers to the Riu Palace Costa Mujeres when you arrive in Cancun.

If you have not received your travel documents please contact Bev or Doug.

Environmental Tax

Several Municipalities in Cancun, Riviera Maya and Isla Mujeres have enacted an Environmental Tax to help maintain beaches and ecosystems. This tax is not included in any packages and therefore may be assessed directly by the hotel upon check out. The cost of the tax is between $30.00 - $80.00 MXN (Mexican Pesos) per room per night (between $3.00 - $5.00 USD, depending on current exchange rate). The Municipalities included are Benito Juarez, Solidaridad, Puerto Morelos, Tulum and Isla Mujeres. Subject to change without notice.

Packing Essentials

🕶️ Light, breathable clothing, swimwear, and a hat for sun protection.

🕶️ Beach wedding attire
🩴 Comfortable sandals/shoes for exploring.
☀️ Reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses, and insect repellent.
💦 A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

Currency & Payments

💵 Mexican Pesos (MXN) are the local currency, but U.S. dollars are widely accepted.
💳 Credit/debit cards work in most places, but it's good to have some cash for small vendors or tips.

Avoid Timeshare Sellers at the Airport

🚨 Upon arrival at Cancun International Airport, you may be approached by individuals offering "free rides," "discounted tours," or exclusive "hotel check-ins." These are often timeshare representatives. To avoid delays:

  • Ignore salespeople inside the airport—head straight to your pre-arranged transportation.

  • Do not share your hotel details with anyone other than official airport staff.

  • Look for your confirmed transportation described in your travel documents outside, where legitimate drivers will be waiting.

Tipping in Mexico

💰 Tipping is customary in Cancun and across Mexico. General guidelines include:

Excursions & Activities

🏊‍♂️ Book snorkeling, diving, or day trips in advance for the best options.

🏊‍♂️ We recommend the Catamaran Sail to the island of Isla Mujeres. It departs at 10am and returns at 5:30 and includes lunch buffet and open bar. We can assist in getting you booked.
🍹 Enjoy delicious local dishes like tacos al pastor and fresh ceviche!

If you have any last-minute questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out—we're here to help make your trip seamless and stress-free!

Safe travels and enjoy the wedding and time in paradise! 🌊🌴
