Have you tuk tuk’d Lisbon?

If you have never tuk tuk’d, it is a must do in Lisbon.

Recently in Lisbon Bev and I had a short window of time to continue our exploration of Lisbon.   A curling friend of ours recommended a local tuk tuk driver.   We contacted her via WhatsApp, scheduled a pickup and a 1 hour tour the morning before heading to Porto.

I have never been on a tuk tuk.   It is a fantastic way to see and learn a lot while navigating the hills and narrow alleys of the historical seven hills in Lisbon.   Our driver picked us up mid-morning and drove us around the historical seven hills of Lisbon.   She explained what we were seeing along our drive adding local flavor to the descriptions making the experience more special than a “hop on hop off” tour.   We stopped at significant places with spectacular views and sights of historical structures including churches, housing, shops, and local life in the historical neighborhoods.   The architecture and street art in the neighborhoods is amazing and our driver showed us  things you would never see with any other tour or self-guided walking tour.

And the best part … We met a lovely local woman willing to share her tuk tuk,  her story, and the story of Lisbon with us

If you do decide to tuk tuk in Lisbon, I highly recommend 2-3 hours to allow more time to enjoy the stops and not feel rushed to get back to your hotel or next event.
